Attuned Special Series: Tenor (Octave Violin)
Product Description
We had to raise the price. This model was just two expensive for us to make a profit at the price we were charging and they take a long time to make; hence a long waiting period. The good news is that you can still get one; however, you may want to take a close look at our new Fat Strad 8vb Octave Violin. We are pretty sure that most customers with go with the Fat Strad 8vb Octave Violin, which looks more like a traditional fiddle and is louder than the Attuned Series Tenor.
The Tenor of the Attuned Special Series by Don Rickert Musical Instruments is designed for the Octave Violin (tuned one octave lower than a violin) range. Instruments of this type are sometimes incorrectly called "baritone violins". The Tenor is violin length octave violin, plain and simple. It may be the best we have ever designed in the past decade of researching, designing, making and player-testing octave violins and fiddles, yet costs more than $1,000 less than the octave violins and fiddles on which we gained our reputation!
Owing to what we have learned about achieving the "sweet spot" between sourcing some of the manufacture to a top Chinese lutherie and critical work done exclusively at our WildRock Studios in Hiawassee, GA, USA.
The Tenor Model is a beautiful cornerless design approximating some of the dimensions of a standard violin or fiddle; however, it has higher ribs. It utilizes several crucial resonance-enhancing technologies, which make such a small octave violin (aka baritone violin) sound like a much larger instrument. You really won’t believe your ears when you hear the tremendous projection volume and rich, warm timbre of this instrument.

The Tenor is fit with Wittner Fine-Tune internally-geared pegs and a Dov Schmidt Harp compensated tailpiece. Fine tuners on the tailpiece are unnecessary owing to the tuning accuracy of the Wittner pegs.
Note: In order to achieve its full-potential, the Tenor MUST be played with a high-quality VIOLA or specialized bow!
